Healthy Habits

We want to implement a new habit…

Yet day after day, we just don’t do it.

This is me with brewing tea in the morning.

I’d like to get into the habit of blending my own herbs and drinking some hot tea right in the morning…

But wanting is not enough.

This habit, like any habit, is gonna take some upfront work that I haven’t done yet.

If brewing tea in the morning really is important to me… how am I going to make sure I get it done day after day?

Let’s start by writing up a plan:

  1. Write the habit down somewhere I’ll be able to see it everyday
  2. Research what the best herbs are for morning tea
  3. Order herbs
  4. Prep herbs for easy steeping
  5. Set mug out night before as a prompt

Now that we have the plan, let’s work to execute it starting with #1:

  1. Write the habit down somewhere I’ll be able to see it everyday

Today I designed a cute Morning Routine Wallpaper for my lock screen. It brings me joy and reminds me to do a few of my favs in the morning (like brewing tea).

Now to just keep rocking on with my plan…

I’ll update you guys as I go 🙂

The Art of Reacting Better: Choosing Joy over Sorrow

Things happen unexpectedly.

And it may hurt us and those around us.

We ultimately have two choices…

To either laugh about it or cry about it.

To laugh about it means to find the joy in life, no matter the circumstance. When we find joy, we react, live, and feel better.

To cry about it means to find the sorrow in life, no matter the circumstance. When we find sorrow, we react, live, and feel poorly.

While we can’t control what happens to us…

We can make an effort to react better.

To react more light heartedly…

With more love, strength, compassion, and empathy.

Learning how to answer with a smile…

It happens. Breathe. React better.

Get to know your plants

We have about 20 plants in our apartment right now and I absolutely LOVE them. They teach me so much and love unconditionally 🙂

Mondays are watering day; also a day I like to send good vibes to my plants to help them grow.

Me singing to my plants:

“Everybody keep growing … you are loved … and you are blessed!”

~ realizing I could use some lovin too ~

Me singing to myself:

“Keep growing Cor … you are loved .. and you are blessed!”

Plants teach us how to love ourselves and others. You can get to know your plants by focusing on one at a time and learning how to care for it properly. Add to your plant collection once you feel like you know your plant(s) and what they need to thrive.

Other lessons from plants:

  • Plants teach us that each of us are VERY particular with our unique combination of likes, preferences, and viewpoints.
  • Plants teach us that some may eat more than others and that’s okay because it’s what’s right for them.
  • Plants teach us that we all thrive in a specific environment. Ie. some of us love sunlight and water… while others could do without the light and/or water all together (crazy to me but true!).
  • Plants teach us that something we may do often, others may hardly (if ever) do at all.

Plants have this unspoken language about them ~ universal language ~ that we can pull lessons from to help us live a healthier, more compassionate, and emphatic life.

What kind of plants do you have at home? How do you care for them? What have they taught you? Let us know in the comments below!

Ask more questions

Feeling stuck? Asking more questions can help give us clarity.

What do you see for your life?

Who do you want to be?

Who and what do you need to surround yourself with?

What kind of energy do you want in your circle?

Are you going with what others want?

Are you living for other people, trying to please their expectations?

Are you challenging the “norm” and doing things differently?

Are you asking questions, trying to make the best life for yourself?

Healthy Habits

Easy to do, easy not to do

Brushing our teeth.

Taking a shower.

Eating the right foods.

Drinking enough water.

Exercising.

Reaching out to friends and family.

Giving thanks.

Breathing deeply.

Reading a few pages.

Documenting.

Saying yes to things that bring us joy.

Saying no to things that drain our energy.

These things like many others are easy to do, and easy not to do.

Day after day, we have the choice: to do or not to do.

And what we decide creates our life.
