General

Time management = concentration of effort

Time management is all about concentration of effort.

Concentration of effort: to focus one’s attention or mental effort on a particular object or activity.

Time Analysis Questions

Below are some questions we can ask ourselves to bring more awareness to how we are using and managing our time:

Does it take you a long time to get simple tasks done?

Do you daydream a lot?

Do you have your goals written out with a weekly plan to follow?

Do you set aside time weekly to review your goals and plan your upcoming week?

Do you win the day pretty quickly or does it take all day to get your tasks done?

Do you utilize a timer or similar system to balance work mode and breaks?

Do you take 5 deep belly breaths before starting work?

Do you close out your day and prepare for tomorrow?

Do you try to “multitask”?

Do you find that it takes you – longer with more effort – to get things done when you’re trying to do multiple things at once?

Do you get distracted easily during focus times?

Do you pick up your phone to check social media during focus times, or when you’re with friends and family?

How is your concentration of effort? What would you rate it 1-10? Is there room for improvement?

Wrapping Up

If we can concentrate better on the task in front of us, we manage our time better, and in turn manage our lives better. Getting 1% better everyday.
