Movement

Daily Movement (no matter what)

Short on time? Stuck at home for the day? Gym closed? No gym membership at all? Crappy weather?

Add an at-home workout to your agenda. We owe it ourselves to hit that daily movement goal no matter what.

One thing we can do despite any uncertainty is move.

And we can move in different ways throughout our homes easily.

Body weight exercises, yoga flows, stair climbing, recovery drills, mobility practice.

Come to think of it: at home workouts can even be beneficial for the soul.

Think about it…

Your own space…

Your own equipment…

You can wear what you want…

And play your favorite music…

You can burn candles or incense (my personal fav)…

All while your animals or kids are in the other room…

Or the same room…

And you are building the machine (YOU)…

Saving time and energy on travel.

If you work at home like me, you can freely move from work mode → workout mode.

The key is staying mindful and focused at the task at hand: fully present.

Using 15, 30, 45, 60 minute sessions – you can break up your movement goal throughout the day (15 mins here and there for example) or bang it out all at one time (ie 60 mins straight).

Last thing! Utilize a timer so time doesn’t get away from you 🙂

Happy moving!

Healthy Eating

Health begins with what you are eating on a daily basis.

Remember to bring awareness to what you decide to fuel your body with…

Because what you eat today, will have a lasting impact on your health.

Think long-term.

You won’t see the results immediately, but overtime.

Meaning, your eating habits will expose you as time goes on.

Eating habits affect not only your physical health, but all areas of your life.

And now that you’re aware that this is actually a thing…

You can change course if you need to.

Better Alternatives

Have you been feeling sluggish? lack of energy? gaining weight? losing weight? feeling irritable, off balance, or completely drained?

Healthy, nutritious foods can help with ALL of that!

And it all begins begins with choosing better alternatives.

More whole-foods, less processed. Reading labels, swapping this for that.

The key is choosing the better alternative time and time again until it’s habit.

This doesn’t mean that when you slip up and eat some not-so-healthy snacks or binge on ice cream and pizza that it’s the end all be all.

THAT’s simply a new opportunity to learn how to live, forgive, and let go.

Work to choose better next time that’s all, no sweat – just don’t make a habit out of slipping up!

Get to know your WHY

Everyone has a WHY.

A WHY is the purpose, cause, or belief that inspires you to keep on stepping and moving forward toward a specific goal or outcome.

Knowing your WHY gives you a filter to make choices that align with your goals…

  • At work
  • At home
  • In the kitchen
  • In conversation
  • In thought

We’re responsible for the choices we make all throughout our day…

So by keeping your WHY on top of mind…

We can think twice before choosing. And when you make the choices that move you toward your goal on a daily basis you’ll stay motivated and inspired to keep rolling.

It’s like a never-ending cycle of positive growth.

Think…

WHY —> ACTION —> MOTIVATION —> INSPIRATION —> REPEAT

WHY determined by what you want to accomplish

ACTION fueled and filtered by your Why

MOTIVATION fueled by your action

INSPIRATION fueled by confidence and self-reliance built solely through continuous action

REPEAT to keep your growth going

With this process in mind, you can see that figuring out your why is the very first step to achieving any goal, especially when it comes to health and fitness.

Getting to Know Your WHY

What do I really want?

Why is this so important to me?

What emotions are driving my WHY?

What don’t I want?

What does the end of the movie look like?

Visualization Exercise

Visualize a sketchy, wooden rope bridge so long you can barely see the land on the other side. Your goals are over on that land waiting for you with smiles and open arms.

Now, imagine in your mind’s eye your Why holding your hand the entire time as you cross the bridge. Anytime you may get off balance or step your foot through a wood panel, your Why is always strong enough to hold you up and you keep going.

Step by step, day by day, you get closer to your goals.

And one day you get across and reach the other side.

You look to your Why and give it a tight hug. You made it.

Using Your WHY to Get Back on Track

When you’re not feeling particularly motivated to take action, think hard about your Why. The more detail the better.

Do it anyway, even if you “don’t feel like it.” Ya gotta cross that bridge my friend, don’t stop now!

Wrapping Up

Thinking about starting your healthy and fit lifestyle? Clearly define WHY you want to be healthy and fit and keep this on top of mind as you go throughout your journey.

Action Items:

  • Figure out WHY health and fitness?
  • Write out your WHY and read it every morning and night.

One Percent Healthier

Living a healthy lifestyle is all about getting 1% healthier everyday.

This means creating daily habits consistent with your goals.

To live a life consistent with our goals, we work to improve how we eat, move, sleep, and think

It’s a (well worth it) 24 hour commitment that supports success in all areas of life.

And daily one percent changes will get us there very quickly.

Here’s how…

Overtime, getting just one percent healthier everyday, is like compound interest for your body, mind, and soul.

Every day, you are adding gain to yesterday’s principal, earning results on your results.

Doing something small each day adds up and will leave you with more of everything…

More confidence, more health, more happiness, and more opportunities.

Happy growing!
