Another goal checked off of the Impossible List! Today (7/1/23) marks 68 days in a row of walking / running a daily 5k.
What really inspired my to take up the 5k a day for 31 days challenge was to honor my Poppop who I love and miss beyond words.
Doing something everyday in honor of those who cannot. That thought motivates me and keeps me stepping everyday.
Accepting what is (the pain, the love, all of it) & powering through doing the best I can now.

Never did I think a daily loop around the block would turn into doing a daily mile for over 500 days (and counting), and a daily 5k for 31 days (and counting).
I simply say yes, lace up, and get after my goal day after day, and it’s adding up! One step at a time. One day at a time.
Through this experience, I’ve learned more about…
- consistency: doing something small everyday no matter what’s going on in life; to be consistent is to carve out time daily to get it done, or to do it daily
- integrity: making a promise and following through no matter how I’m feeling; to have integrity is doing what I said I’d do – doing my absolute best to follow through on whatever I said yes to

I often sit and ponder about what life is trying to show me and how these lessons can apply to my life situation; how can I use this lesson to move the needle just 1%?
Some life lessons since starting 5k a day:
- Work on myself more intentionally (goal, strategy, tactics)
- Make my heart happy: exercise, good diet, water, sleep, deep breaths
- Practice building confidence and discipline to see my goals through

What’s next? For now, I’m keeping the daily 5k streak going and holding focus on the Impossible List.
My 2023 Misogi is to run 26.2 miles (doubled from last year), so that’s a big goal I’m working toward right now!
Stay tuned as I continue to train for a 12 hour race coming up early October 2023 🙂

To @joediandrea, thank you for inspiring me to chase my dreams and for loving and supporting me the whole way.
To @cam00913, thank you for being so loving and supportive, for trying new things, and for talking to me about your dad, my Poppop.

If this blog inspires you, I encourage you to commit to your own fitness challenge.
Maybe it’s a daily loop around the block, daily mile, daily 5k, daily dimes (10 push-ups, 10 pull-ups, and 10 squats) – whatever your creative mind can come up with, the main goal is to do something every single day no matter what. THAT is where the real gains happen.
Fulfilling a small promise to yourself every day helps build the self-reliance, confidence, and discipline required to see goals through to the end.
Set a goal and get after it DAILY. Getting 1% healthier everyday. Love you all. Thanks for reading and for all of the love and support. Keep on stepping lil savages ♡
Update! I ended up clipping out 150+ days of 5k a day. Took me up to the Hainesport 12hr race on October 7th, 2023.
If you’re training for your own race and/or want to work on your mental health, I found so much value in 5k a day – give it a try 🙂
