Healthy Habits

Take the blame, point the credit

Old way of thinking: take the credit, point the blame. This is how most people operate.

New way of thinking: take the blame, point the credit. This is how the greats operate.

Take the blame

We’re responsible for our actions or lack there of.

What could have we done differently?

No pointing fingers at others.

What did we do wrong?

We don’t have to respond with blame on others, we choose to.

Point the credit

We’re responsible for creating incredible things.

You play a role. So do others.

Point the credit to others as often as you can.

For example, my blog post goes viral – I can only thank the tools I have in front of me, the people who made and manage them, and the inspiration around me because without them all a viral blog post would not even be a thing.

We see you putting in the work, however there are no gold stars in life. What we get are feelings.

We feel happy and accomplished for example even if it’s just for the time being.

And when we point credit, we give these gifts of happiness to others.

We feel happy and now so do they 🙂

Wrapping up

Give credit instead of taking credit. When you point credit to others… you are giving them a gift of happiness and a fine reputation to hold up.

Self reflect instead of pointing fingers. When you take blame and reflect on your actions… you grow as an individual and show up in the world a better person.

Goals

Inner peace vs inner conflict

When our actions line up with our core values, we feel inner peace.

When our actions go against our core values, we feel inner conflict.

For example…

If I say I’m going to do something, and do it – I feel good.

If I say I’m going to do something, and don’t do it – I feel bad.

Knowing that integrity (doing what I said I’ll do, when I said I’ll do it) is a core value of mine…

I can see right away that I feel bad because my actions are not in alignment.

Moving forward, I’m going to be much more cautious of what I say yes to while putting in place things to help me fulfill my promises (reminders, alarms, google calendar, etc)

Getting to know our core values is important if we are looking to live a healthier, happier life.

When we dig deep on our core values, we change our…

  • Way of thinking
  • Actions
  • Life situation

Core values are like intentions. You write them, feel them, and work to get them done.

Healthy Habits

Practice patience

By practicing patience, we allow our nerves to relax, our minds to clear, and our lives unfold in a much calmer and natural way.

How can we practice patience?

We can practice patience by taking 5 deep belly breaths.

When can we practice patience?

  • If realize you are rushing around
  • If you catch yourself wanting to speed up a life situation or just life in general
  • If you find yourself wishing you were somewhere different
  • If you notice that you’re longing for different things / a different life

Taking a breather and slowing it down when our minds want to go go go.

Another easy to do, easy not to do thing.

Stay patient my friends and stay blessed💚

Closing Out the Year and Planning for the New Year

In our household, October is about the time we start closing out the year and planning for the new year.

How have things been going? Any changes needed? What’s next year looking like?

Closing Out The Year

Here is our closing out the year checklist to finish by the end of December:

  1. Jesse Itzler’s Build Your Life Resume workbook
  2. Answer Think & Grow Rich Self Analysis Questions
  3. Review 1 year goals in Life Map. How am I making out? Any adjustments needed to reach the goal? If you don’t have a life map made yet, how do we feel the year is going? Anything we can do to end the year strong?

Planning the New Year

In the spirit of planning the new year, we like to look at the entire year when setting new goals:

  1. Plan Misogi Challenge for the new year
  2. Plan 6 new experiences for the year (Kevin’s Rule)
  3. Tim Ferris’ Fear Setting and Dreamlining exercises
  4. Set next year’s one year goals in Life Map, break down to daily goals
  5. Happiness Project: List 12 habits to work on in 2023 (1 for each month)
  6. Review this year’s finances, set new year’s budget
  7. Review / update yearly health & fitness plan

Have a great new year! Keep on stepping, let’s crush our goals together! Comment below your top 5 goals for the new year! (1 year goals on your Life Map)

Goals

Take some time off

From work and from your regular routine.

You work hard when you work. That’s easy.

But to balance life out, you gotta play hard too – with good intentions.

How can we use time off to make sure we are growing our mind, body, and soul?

We can use our time off to…

  • decompress
  • ponder
  • read a good book
  • travel / explore
  • spend time with loved ones
  • plan goals
  • create something
  • declutter

How do you like to use your time off?

I’m currently on a road trip (3 days in). I took 3 weeks off from work and am taking full advantage.

There’s a 200 mile race happening in Ohio right now that Joey is running and I’m here crewing to help keep the runners going. A twofer.

Fun stuff getting out of my comfort zone 🙂

Goals

What does it mean to know yourself?

In the left hand, we have love and peace.

In the right hand, we have pain and hurt.

Both sides are within us.

To know yourself is to know that the feelings of pain and hurt are within you as well as the feelings of love and peace.

To know yourself is to no longer get surprised when feelings of anger or sadness come up…

They’re actually expected to surface now and then, in fact anticipated.

To know yourself is to know how to attract positive energy back into your life when you are experiencing negative thoughts and feelings.

When you feel anger boil up – maybe someone’s driving slow on the road for example – are we letting the feeling of anger take over? Or are we taking a breather and letting it go?

Simply knowing both the pain and the peace are within you may give you a sense of relief.

You’re no longer fighting against the current…

You’re flowing with the tide.
