Staying Centered: How Healthy Reminders Keep Good Vibes Flowing Daily

If you’re looking to create a more positive mindset, there’s a practice in the Power of Positive Thinking by Norman Vincent Peale that I love and use on the regular. It’s easy and only takes a few minutes each day.

The Process

  1. Write down some healthy reminders on index cards
  2. Flip through them everyday until you memorize them
  3. Repeat your healthy reminders daily

This practice helps to create a more positive mindset for ourselves.

Like a farmer, we must sow good seeds or weeds will start to grow.

Staying Centered

When I’m happy, healthy reminders keep the good vibes flowing.

And when I’m upset, healthy reminders help clear things up.

Up or down, healthy reminders work to keep us centered.

Repeating our healthy reminders daily is the key to lasting results.

Below are some of my favorite reminders that keep my mind feeling happy, healthy, and fit:

Healthy Reminder Examples

Keep on stepping

You are loved

Be unafraid

Yes you can

You can do all things

Be free

Hang loose

Believe

You matter

You are brave

Relax and release

You are beautiful

Any sayings come to mind that make you feel happy, safe, strong, empowered?

Faith-Based Reminders

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me

According to your faith be it unto you

If ye have faith nothing shall be impossible unto you

Be ye transformed by the renewal of the mind

If god be for me, who can be against me

Faith power works wonders

I believe God gives me power to attain whatever I really want

I expect the best and with God’s help will attain the best

Thou wilt guide me by thy counsel

Be unafraid of what you do not know
Give me Thy healing peace in my nervous system as well as in my soul

May the love of Christ fill my soul; may the love of Christ for __ fill my soul

The Lord is the strength in my life… in this I will be confident

They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength

Wrapping Up

This week’s healthy homework is to create your own list of healthy reminders.

Write them out on index cards, your mirror, your phone – wherever you can to keep these good thoughts top of mind.

Goals

Inner peace vs inner conflict

When our actions line up with our core values, we feel inner peace.

When our actions go against our core values, we feel inner conflict.

For example…

If I say I’m going to do something, and do it – I feel good.

If I say I’m going to do something, and don’t do it – I feel bad.

Knowing that integrity (doing what I said I’ll do, when I said I’ll do it) is a core value of mine…

I can see right away that I feel bad because my actions are not in alignment.

Moving forward, I’m going to be much more cautious of what I say yes to while putting in place things to help me fulfill my promises (reminders, alarms, google calendar, etc)

Getting to know our core values is important if we are looking to live a healthier, happier life.

When we dig deep on our core values, we change our…

  • Way of thinking
  • Actions
  • Life situation

Core values are like intentions. You write them, feel them, and work to get them done.

Mindset

Are the past and future conceptions of the mind?

The past

The past does not define you if you decide to take different action today.

Because what you do now, in this very moment, is what truly matters.

The past should be reflected upon if you are retrieving information for immediate use…

Making sure not to dwell on what you could or should of done.

We’re looking for lessons…

Because that’s how we grow and become better.

The future

The future is great (and important) to plan, but living in the future will only disrupt your present moment…

The only true moment you will ever have.

When you catch yourself in dream mode more often than you would like…

Acknowledge that you are in dream mode, or have been lately…

And just look around NOW.

Notice things that you haven’t noticed before.

Listen to all the noises.

Smell the air.

Feel what’s in front of you.

Notice your body’s energy.

Pray for what you appreciate.

Be present.

Think about it ♡

Faith: free social graphics

Faith is a state of mind.

It may be induced, or created, by affirmation or repeated instructions to the subconscious mind.

All through the ages, religious leaders have struggled with humanity to “have faith” but they’ve failed to teach people how to have faith.

They haven’t made it clear that faith is a state of mind and that it may be induced by self-suggestion.

Each of us is what we are because of the dominating thoughts we permit to occupy our minds.

Thoughts deliberately placed in our mind + emotion = motivating forces that direct and control our every moment, act and deed!

Throw off the influences of any unfortunate environment and commit to building your own life to order.

By taking an inventory of mental assets and liabilities, you will discover your greatest weakness is lack of self-confidence.

This handicap can be surmounted and translated into courage through the aid of self-suggestion.

This application may be made through a simple arrangement of positive thought impulses stated in writing, memorized and repeated, until they have become a part of the working equipment of your subconscious mind.

Below I’ve created a few graphics that include some of the most powerful words I have come across.

They are purely light in the darkness and I hope they bring as much confidence and comfort to you as they do for me.

Save your favorite graphics and…
1. Share them with a friend
2. Set one as your wallpaper
3. And create an album you can look back on when you’re feeling low

Mindset

How your thoughts are affecting your life…

Glass half full or half empty?

Frame of mind. How you view the situation.

A challenge comes up

Do you see it as a burden and something that is messing up your schedule and day?

Or do you see it as an opportunity to take a breather and be in the moment to learn something new that will benefit you long term?

Someone has a different view point than you

Do you find them incompetent and not worth the time to hear?

Or do you find value in their experience and see the conversation as an opportunity to grow and work on your skills?

When you think about success

Do you feel angry for you were not blessed with a “better/ easier” life?

Or do you feel grateful that we all are capable of personal development, growth and change?

How we view the situation at hand can really impact the experiences we have during our lifetime. It’s no secret that our choices are the sole reason for both our happiness and unhappiness.

How we decide to act and respond goes hand in hand with what we receive back from the world.

It’s really no wonder why negative is met with more negative, and positive with more positive.

We attract what we send out.

Lessons via the Daily Stoic by Ryan Holiday

Be the casual, relaxed person in every situation who tells everyone else to take a breath and not to worry. Don’t be the agitator, the paranoid, the worrier, or the irrational. Be the calm, not the liability. And it will catch on.

Sticking with the same unsuccessful pattern is easy. It doesn’t take any thought or any additional effort, which is probably why most people do it.

If you want to change, choose to learn from your failures and consciously opt to do things differently: to tweak and change until we actually get the results we’re after.

At the very core, people want freedom, happiness, and respect from their peers. These are simple and straightforward to acquire: through our choices.

The Power of Positive Thinking

The Power of Positive Thinking by Norman Vincent Peale is a powerful resource I use in my self healing practice.

Peale addresses real life issues that we all face day in and day out, and the negative thought patterns we all know so well.

He provides practical tools to solving them in our daily lives today.

Overall, his tools and practices have guided my initial thought pattern to focus more on the positive.

I have been able to develop a regular thought pattern of positivity, meaning that I generally expand on the good in the situations that I’m facing.

This benefit alone helps me cope better with stressors since I have found tremendous strength through these positive thinking practices.

There’s no destination, only the journey.

Although it’s constant practice, and I still have so many low moments of doubts and fear, I am always able to bounce back by using the practices taught in Peale’s book. Highly recommended!
